official with knowledge of the case tells cnn today that the former cia chief is expected to tell lawmakers he suspectedalmost immediately that the attack was the work of an al-qaeda affiliate but the official says there was other intelligence about 20 reports suggested an antiislamic movie may have been to blame for the attack. for those reports as far as they go they were disproved but that happened after petraeus' initial briefing to congress. he is also expected to tell lawmakers he had no direct involvement with the talking points used by u.s. ambassador susan rice in the days following the attack. as you may know she's been under fire for suggesting the attack was sparked by spontaneous protest he against the antimuslim film. now let's go one day back yesterday, we did see house hearings on the specific issue happening and we know lawmakers they looked at video surveillance video and say that it helped them fill in the blanks of what happened on september 11th. >> is there word about another investigation possibly involving general petraeus? >> reporter: yeah there's word th

resignation. the retired general tells cnn his resignation had nothing to do with his scheduled testimony to congress about the 9/11 attack in benghazi. he also said he never shared classified information with paula broadwell, his former mistress. nbc news has obtained this picture of broadwell at an event in late october that petraeus also attended. according to sources this last meeting between the two apparently happened after bro broadwell admitted to the fbi that she and petraeus had an affair. we get our "1st look" at the fbi agent who actually started the investigation that led to the cia director's resignation. this is frederick w. humphreys ii, a personal friend of jill kelley. lawmakers have to wait another day before hearing general petraeus's testimony on benghazi. there were questions of whether the former cia director would take part in the house intelligence committee. instead he will appear behind closed doors with both intelligence committees tomorrow where leaders will zero in on all of the information they have been wanting to get from him. let me bring in nbc news capi

united states this is what cnn and others are saying basically right doubt it looks like president barack obama can rely on 201 electoral votes this is what is so critical. what is the easiest path to get these guys to the white house? with his number, 201 essentially what we have to turn around is ohio which is a critical state wisconsin and iowa and iowa is leaning towards obama right now if he gets to 71, he is reelected. now let's turn it around romney says not so fast i want an easy path to the white house but there is no easy path for you here is the easiest. va., and florida those three. but do the math, that's still not 270. he still needs to pick up either new hampshire or iowa, he needs those two states if he is going to break 270. iowa is leaning towards obama right now. tomorrow night one of the first things to look at is obviously the east coast states will vote first in terms of the numbers but keep your eye on of virginia because the va is critical, if romney loses va. the handwriting may be on the wall, florida will be called or round that same time as well if romne
